Microsoft Azure not working? What to check
- azure.microsoft.com answers us, so start with your own side: open it in another browser, or on mobile data instead of wi-fi. If it works there, the problem is your network or the device.
- Restart the router and try again. A stale DNS answer or a half-dead connection looks exactly like an outage from one machine.
- Clear the site's data (or sign out and in). A broken session shows Microsoft Azure as an error page while everyone else is fine.
- Check whether it is only one feature. Microsoft Azure can be up as a site and broken for uploads, payments or logins, and a check from outside like ours cannot see that.
- If it is your own site you are worried about rather than Microsoft Azure, put it on a monitor and let it tell you instead.

How our checker works
We request azure.microsoft.com from our own servers in Frankfurt every five minutes and record the status code and how long it took. A failure is not enough on its own: the check is repeated, and only when two in a row fail does an incident open here. That rule is why this page does not flicker red every time a single request is dropped somewhere between us and them.
What we see is what somebody outside the company sees. If Microsoft Azure is broken only for signed-in users, or only in one country, an outside check like this one can miss it. It is the same check we run on our customers' own sites, and the same rules.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Microsoft Azure down right now?
- Microsoft Azure is up. Our checks reach azure.microsoft.com and it answers normally.
- Is Microsoft Azure down for everyone or just me?
- Microsoft Azure answers our checks from outside, so the outage is probably local to you: try another network, restart the router, clear the app's cache, and check whether other sites work. If azure.microsoft.com is up for us and down for you, it is your side of the connection.
- How do you check Microsoft Azure?
- Every five minutes we request azure.microsoft.com from our servers and check the response code and the time it took. A single failure is re-checked before it counts, so one dropped request never turns this page red.
- Will you tell me when Microsoft Azure is back?
- Yes, if you ask: add Microsoft Azure to a free ServerInspector account and you get an email the moment it goes down and the moment it recovers. The free plan holds ten services and needs no card.
- Is this the official Microsoft Azure status page?
- No. We are not affiliated with Microsoft Azure. This is what our own checks see from outside, which is what your users see too, and it does not depend on anyone publishing an incident.
