How our checker works
We request max.com from our own servers in Frankfurt every five minutes and record the status code and how long it took. A failure is not enough on its own: the check is repeated, and only when two in a row fail does an incident open here. That rule is why this page does not flicker red every time a single request is dropped somewhere between us and them.
What we see is what somebody outside the company sees. If HBO Max is broken only for signed-in users, or only in one country, an outside check like this one can miss it. It is the same check we run on our customers' own sites, and the same rules.
